Just a few fungal images captured yesterday

Cordyceps militaris

A Cordyceps sp., here in West Wales! I had no idea!! I pulled this out of the lawn this afternoon, thinking it was a remaining stalk of something. When I looked closer I discovered that it was not a stalk but a complete looking specimen of something. If I'd realised what it was at the time I'd have photographed it in-situ and maybe even tried to excavate it and photograph it with its host! Cordyceps militaris
